The information can be used to manage and deploy your vehicles or assets more effectively; this is more important these days, with the high cost of fuel! Its benefits span several aspects of our lives and across most sectors of industry.

How quickly can I realise the benefits and recover the cost of investment?

ANSWER: This will depend on your commitment to act on the information provided by the GPS tracking system. More than 40% of our clients report a Return on Investment (ROI) within 6 months. Your savings come in reduced fuel cost by preventing fuel theft, unauthorized use, and efficient deployment of assets. You also get reduced backroom cost with our automated reporting.Either use the ROI calculator on our website or contact us for details. Our technical team will provide you with a personalized ROI calculation for your business, based on the information that you can provide.

Do you offer a fleet management service?

ANSWER: The benefits are huge. The benefits to your business include following;

  • Reduction in operational costs through lower surveillance and manpower costs, decreased vehicle maintenance charges, and reduced communication costs.
  • Improved operational efficiencies through efficient dispatch and allocation of new jobs to the nearest vehicles, automating back office tasks such as periodic reports, maintenance or pre-planned event reminders, electronic timesheets etc. Regular reports and alerts any time of day delivered to your mobile phone or computer.
  • Increased revenues through better productivity and vehicle utilisation, control over running costs such as fuel and periodic maintenance.
  • Improved customer service from being able to notify customers automatically when e.g. vehicles approach their sites and identifying nearest vehicle for new jobs.
  • Uncovering 'hidden' liabilities such as unauthorised use of your vehicles / assets, fraudulent overtime claims and bad driver behaviour.
  • Improved driver safety by enforcing company-mandated speed, stop, and mileage policies.
  • Lower insurance premiums – if you can show the insurance company that your vehicles are now driving slower, driving fewer miles, and you are reducing the risk of accidents. The tracker also makes it easy to locate your vehicle if it is stolen. If the insurance company will not give you a reduction, shop around. There are insurance companies that will offer a discount, once you can show an improvement.
  • Legislative compliance including working time directives, health and safety laws, duty of care obligations and corporate manslaughter.

GPS TRACKING QUESTIONS

ANSWER: GPS tracking systems do not always work perfectly because they employ both cellular technology as well as GPS technology. These technologies require good network coverage and a good line of sight of the satellites for the system to work properly.

What about Poor quality GPS receiver ?

ANSWER: GPS receivers can vary in quality. Some of these poor quality GPS receiver scan take more than 5 minutes to get a satellite fix in an open space. Such length of time to get a satellite fix may not be a problem if one is monitoring a static asset, such as a power generator. It is unacceptable if one is tracking a stolen vehicle. However, we will never sell you such a product. We have partnered with some of the best manufacturers to provide you with good quality products.

Lack of Satellite Fix resulting in wrong coordinates and wonder of location data.

ANSWER: A reliable GPS tracking system acquires a fix of location using signals from at least three satellites that are well above the horizon. The location data are often in error if a proper fix cannot be obtained. The symptom of this is that the reported location coordinates are so removed from the actual location of the vehicle or asset; in some cases, the tracker may indicate a location in the middle of the ocean when you know you are not tracking a vessel on the sea. Some devices are programmed not to transmit any location data if a fix cannot be obtained; others however do! Some devices attach a heading to the location data to indicate that a satellite fix was obtained when the data was sent to the server. This problem may happen every now and then and it can be annoying. Please contact our service team if this problem persists.

What of Electrical problems.

ANSWER: Some elements of the systems may fail from time to time. For example¸ the fuse may blow out or the device or antenna may become dislodged if the vehicle is driven over very rough terrain. We will help you to resolve some of the most basic problems. We will replace a faulty device with a new one free of charge, if we cannot fix the problem.
Yes, but we will need some logging parameters about the device to be able to get you onto our platform. Our professional services team will help you to integrate new tracking devices onto our platform.

I want to track our personnel but not our vehicles; is there a way to do this?

ANSWER: Yes, we have a range of mini trackers, some with SOS that can be used to track lone workers or personnel working in remote areas. These trackers can be used to track and safeguard children or family members, or elderly relatives. We can also get trackers that are specially designed for tracking pets, such as dogs and cats.
ANSWER: AThere are instances when the vehicle will be stuck or frozen at the same location on the map for an unusually long time; this will occur even though the vehicle is moving and it is continuously reporting the speed of the vehicle. This is often the result of loss of cellular network connection to the server. Note the GPS device comes with a cellular modem and it requires a SIM card from the mobile network provider in order to send its location data to the server. Thus, if the vehicle is travelling in an area with poor network coverage, the device may have problems sending the location data to the server.

The device, just like your mobile phone, may be out of network coverage area and it cannot communicate with the server where the location data is overlaid on a map. During this time, the last location data that was received at the server will be displayed on the map and the vehicle will appear to be “frozen” in time. The device will, however, continue to collect and store the location data, and it will attempt to re-establish connection with the server from time to time. Once a connection can be re-established with the server, the device will send all the stored location data to the server. No location data is lost; only that the device was not able to establish connection with the server.

Time Delay in Data Reported.

ANSWER: A time delay may occur between the time at a particular event and the time being reported by the GPS device on the map. This will give the impression that you are looking at events in the past, say at 10:45 am, instead of in real time at 11:30am. The 2 main reasons for this time lag are:

  • A congested data queue in the servers providing you the GPS data. The server may be experiencing high bandwidth usage.
  • The current performance of the cellular network. If the cellular network provider is the one experiencing high bandwidth usage your data will take longer to arrive at the server. Call our support team and we will check the status of the hosting server and the cellular network providers.
